Elephant depictions by man : The early man in India had obviously spotted the elephant. That is why we find them depicted on cave walls.
As cave paintings moved on to become wall paintings, these evolved into different styles. One of them is the ‘Pithora’ style used by people from Gujarat in western India , to decorate the mud walls of their homes.
In contemporary Indian society, elephants continue to be depicted with as much interest , love and care.
